Why Fleet-Scale Robotics Needs A Physical AI Nervous System

This has been an extraordinary year for robotics. Foundation models are being trained that allow machines to operate in environments they have never seen before. Humanoid platforms are going into factories. Autonomous delivery robots are moving from outdoor sidewalks into hospital corridors. The capital following these deployments is serious, and the engineering is real.

But spend any time with the teams actually deploying these systems and different questions come up fast: what happens when you scale to a robot fleet? When can you actually scale to a robot fleet? And what will be different about that fleet than is the case with current automated systems or human-automated-system hybrids? The robotics sector, in other words, is undergoing a market shift - away from making robots work, towards making robots work together, autonomously, at scale.

From a productivity-boosting perspective, it’s important to look at these questions not in terms of current robot deployments, which have been happening for years already. Instead, to understand the market shift, you must consider the value created when, e.g., thousands of robots, workers, carts, and assets - all of which are moving through spaces they occupy - can all automatically know where each - and all - of them are, in real time, continuously.

That’s the type of enterprise-level Physical AI deployment on which ZaiNar focuses. It’s also the type of deployment that will generate unprecedented ROI for AI plus robotics. Not individual robots completing individual tasks - but fleets of autonomous devices operating as coordinated systems. That requires something the current generation of robotics has not solved: shared spatial awareness across an entire environment, updated continuously. And that’s what ZaiNar provides.

As we’ve noted previously, the standard answer up until now has been cameras and SLAM for coordination. The reasoning is intuitive - eyes are good enough for humans, so cameras should be good enough for machines. But we believe this sets the bar too low. Robots and autonomous systems should not be limited to human-level spatial perception. They should exceed it, especially in the context of Physical AI. Cameras tell a robot what it can see. They do not tell the fleet where everything else is, all the time.

What fleet-scale deployments need is not better eyes. They need a nervous system - a layer that gives every device in the environment a continuous, shared sense of where everything is. Large language models are the brain. Robots and autonomous systems are the arms and legs. Continuous, precise location is what connects them into something that can actually coordinate.

We built ZaiNar to be that nervous system layer. We turn existing 5G networks into spatial sensing systems - no new hardware, no cameras, no satellites. Better-than-GPS accuracy, updating 100 to 500 times per second, at ranges up to 1.5 kilometers. A robot with ZaiNar's location layer can dedicate its processing to the actual task - picking, delivering, inspecting - while the network handles the spatial awareness for the entire fleet. And you do not have to believe that mass-scale fleet robotics is imminent to see the immediate value here. The same infrastructure that enables fleet coordination is, right now, creating new commercial opportunities for the carriers running these 5G networks - turning network data into a revenue surface that did not exist before.
